Tattoo FAQ

Tattoo Frequently Asked Questions

Whether it's your first tattoo or you're adding to an existing collection, it's natural to have questions. Below are answers to some of the most common questions I receive. If you can't find the information you're looking for, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

How do I book a tattoo appointment?

Booking is easy! Simply select the tattoo session that best suits your design through our online booking system. If you're unsure how much time your tattoo will require, contact me before booking and I'll be happy to recommend the most suitable session.

How much do tattoos cost?

Tattoos are booked by session length rather than by design. This gives you the flexibility to choose the time needed for your artwork.

  • 1 Hour Session – Ideal for small tattoos and fine line designs.

  • 2 Hour Session – Perfect for medium-sized tattoos with more detail.

  • 3 Hour Session – Suitable for larger pieces or more detailed artwork.

If your tattoo requires additional time, we can schedule further sessions.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No I trust you to show up or to let me know at least 24 hours' notice that you cant make it. Don't let me down and I wont let you down.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

To ensure the best experience, please:

  • Eat a good meal before your appointment.

  • Drink plenty of water.

  • Get a good night's sleep.

  • Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs for at least 24 hours before your appointment.

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed.

  • Arrive with clean skin and avoid applying creams or lotions to the area.

Does getting a tattoo hurt?

Everyone experiences pain differently, and certain areas of the body are naturally more sensitive than others.

Most clients describe the sensation as uncomfortable rather than unbearable. I'll do everything I can to ensure you're comfortable throughout the process, and you're welcome to ask for a short break if needed.

How long does a tattoo take to heal?

Surface healing generally takes around 2–4 weeks, while the deeper layers of skin continue healing for several weeks after.

Following your aftercare instructions is essential to achieve the best healed result.

Can I use numbing cream?

If you're considering using numbing cream, please discuss this with me before your appointment. Some products can affect how the skin takes ink, so it's important we choose the best option together.

Can I bring my own design?

Absolutely.

You're welcome to bring reference images or ideas. I love working with clients to create a custom design that reflects your vision while ensuring it works well as a tattoo.

Do you create custom tattoos?

Yes.

Creating original, meaningful tattoos is one of my favourite parts of the job. Every custom design is tailored specifically to the individual, ensuring your tattoo is unique and personal.

Can I get one of your original designs tattooed?

Yes.

Many of my One of a Kind Designs are available as exclusive tattoo designs. Once one of these designs has been tattooed, it will not be repeated on another client, making your tattoo truly unique.

Can you tattoo over scars?

In many cases, yes.

The scar must usually be fully healed before tattooing can be considered. During your consultation, I'll assess the area and discuss whether tattooing is suitable.

Can you tattoo over an old tattoo?

Depending on the existing tattoo, a cover-up or rework may be possible.

Please send clear photographs before booking so I can assess your options and recommend the best approach.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that provides easy access to the area being tattooed.

For larger tattoos, darker clothing is recommended as there is always a small chance of ink transferring during the appointment.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes you can however tattooing is the best kind of therapy session there is and it is a very good idea to use the time to relax enjoy the process.

What happens if I need to reschedule?

Life happens!

If you need to change your appointment, please contact me as soon as possible. Appointments can usually be rescheduled with sufficient notice in accordance with our booking policy.

What if I'm feeling unwell?

If you're sick, have flu-like symptoms, or have an active skin infection, please contact me before your appointment so we can arrange another suitable time.

Your health and safety always come first.

Can I exercise after getting a tattoo?

It's best to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, swimming, and saunas for at least the first one to two weeks while your tattoo is healing.

Will my tattoo fade?

Over time, all tattoos naturally soften with age.

Protecting your tattoo from the sun by using sunscreen and keeping your skin moisturised will help maintain its appearance for many years.

Do you tattoo anyone under 18?

No.

You must be 18 years or older to receive a tattoo, and valid photo identification is required before your appointment.
