Beyond tattooing, we offer cosmetic brow services, microneedling treatments, and laser tattoo removal, providing professional care to help you feel confident in your skin.

Our creativity also extends beyond the studio through my Wildflower Mandala Collection and landscape photography, available as premium fine art prints through Queensberry. Each piece reflects my love of nature, colour, and the beauty found in everyday moments.

Meet Kate

Hi, I'm Kathryn Soutar, but everyone knows me as Kate.

I'm the proud owner of Enhance Art Studio Limited, opening on 1 July 2026 at 83 Wareroa Road, behind the Clarendon Hotel in Waverley.

I was raised in Mamaku and moved to Waverley in 2010. Since 2021, I've been travelling regularly between Waverley and the beautiful West Coast of the South Island, where many of my family and lifelong friends live. While Waverley is home, the West Coast will always hold a special place in my heart. I'll be heading back in October to celebrate my eldest daughter's 21st birthday.

My Passion

I'm an artist at heart and love working across many creative mediums. Whether I'm tattooing, creating artwork, photographing special moments, filming rugby, or spending time with horses, I love telling stories through creativity.

I founded Wild Ride Ink because I truly believe life is a wild ride, and tattoos become part of our story. Every tattoo has meaning, and I enjoy taking the time to listen to each client's journey before creating a piece they'll wear with pride. Great conversations, good music, plenty of laughs, and creating meaningful artwork make tattooing one of the most rewarding careers I could ask for.

Photography

Photography has always been another passion of mine. I look forward to expanding my wedding and portrait photography services through Enhance Art Studio in the summer.

Over the past five years, I've travelled extensively between the North and South Islands, photographing New Zealand's breathtaking landscapes. The rugged beauty of the West Coast, long days spent riding horses, and time immersed in nature have inspired much of my photography and artwork.

My aim is to capture genuine emotion, natural beauty, and moments that become treasured memories.

Art & Creativity

Creating art has always been a form of mindfulness for me.

I have spent many hours hand-painting mandalas and creating digital artwork on my iPad. The detailed, repetitive process allows me to slow down, quiet my mind, and reconnect with my creativity. It's something I hope to share with others through workshops in the future.

Every piece I create is made with intention, patience, and appreciation for the gift of creativity.

My Journey

Although I was raised in Mamaku and now call Waverley home, part of my heart will always belong to the West Coast. It's where many of my children, family, and lifelong friends are, and it's a place that continually inspires my work.

Enhance Art Studio is more than a business it's the coming together of my passions for art, tattooing, photography, and creativity, all under one roof.

• Comprehensive Tattooing Certificate

• Eyebrow Microblading & Permanent Makeup Certification (Skin Art)

• Certificate in Web Design

• Liquor Controller Qualification (LCQ)

• Certificate in the Principles of Māori Toi

• Picture Framing Certificate (trained by Michael Masters)

The Principles of Māori Toi course has given me a deeper appreciation for working with natural resources and recognising that every piece of art created carries meaning and should be treated as a gift.

I'm also committed to continuing my education and plan to complete training in laser tattoo removal in the near future.
